The Most Versatile Vallhund Award (MVV) is offered for SVCA members in good standing, to recognize the Swedish Vallhund that best combines herding ability, trainability, and representation of the breed standard at the SVCA National Specialty.
Before the start of the National Specialty, the National Specialty Show Committee will identify to the SVCA Board the persons responsible for MVV record keeping for the duration of the competition. These representatives must be at least two SVCA members in good standing to jointly calculate MVV points.
The totals must be completed no less than one hour prior to the MVV award presentation according to the rules set forth in this policy.
This event is open only to those dogs entered in the MVV competition.
This event is separate from the AKC conformation class(es) and must be entered using the MVV entry form.
Dogs will be judged to the AKC Standard except that spayed and neutered dogs are eligible.
Judging will be by a qualified judge selected by the Specialty Committee. The preferred judge choice should be AKC approved for Swedish Vallhunds, a SVCA breeder judge, or the present Specialty judge.
Dogs shall be rated by the Judge with point values as follows:
Excellent 5 points
Very Good-4 points
Good-3 points
Acceptable-2 points
Entered/major fault/non-type-1 point
Herding entry is required if offered.
Point values as follows for AKC instinct test, herding tests or herding trial classes, started, intermediate, and advanced for the single highest score:
Instinct test 1 point
Herding Tested 2 points
Pre-Trial Tested 3 points
Started 4 points
Intermediate 5 points
Advanced 6 points

Novice Obed. A or B 3 points
Open Obed. A or B 4 points
Utility Obed. A or B 5 points
Bonus Open and Utility Double Q 1 additional point

Due to the limited availability of potential tracking courses and events, tracking is not included in the Most Versatile Vallhund Competition.
