THe “13” Club

Purpose: To give recognition to our Veteran Swedish Vallhunds and honor their health and ability to continue to be competitive into their teens.

Criteria:

  • The dog must be at least 13 years old.
  • The dog must have proof of the SVCA recommended health tests at any point in the dog’s lifetime
    as follows:
    HIPS – OFA, PennHip or Other acceptable hip score (imports)
    EYES – OFA, CERF or Other acceptable eye clearances (imports)
  • The dog must have earned a title or a leg towards a title, with proof, after it’s 13th birthday. (any title is acceptable, CGC, TKN, FD, BN etc)
  • The owner must apply for the award.

Titles recognized: Any title or leg towards a title earned from a recognized organization whether it be AKC, or any other US or Foreign organization who awards earned titles will be honored. (If titles are not AKC earned titles, you will be required to provide proof from those organizations).

Applications: Applications for The SVCA 13 Club award must be filled out on the SVCA Application for The SVCA 13 Club form stating the title or leg towards a title and the date earned so it can be verified with AKC that it was earned, and, after the dogs’ 13th birthday. If earned from an organization other than AKC, the application must be accompanied by a legible copy of a title certificate, or other official verification of a leg earned towards a title after the dogs 13th birthday. Any applications submitted that are not legible, or not on the SVCA Application for The SVCA 13 Club form will be returned to sender.

SVCA Awards Committee

The SVCA provides many awards to it’s members, recognizing and acknowledging owner and dog accomplishments.  These awards are provided to members as one of the benefits of joining the SVCA.

  • Annual Awards – This award recognizes the titles earned by an individual dog each year. SVCA members in good standing will receive certificates at the beginning of each calendar year for titles earned in the previous year. This is an automatic award and no application is required.
  • Registry of Merit – This award recognizes the outstanding sires and dams in our breed that have produced multiple titled progeny. SVCA members in good standing may apply for ROM and ROMX awards in accordance with the guidance on this page (link to ROM program page). The application is also available on this page.
  • Versatility Program – This award recognizes 5 levels of accomplishment of an owner and dog in multiple venues of competition. The requirements for each level of the Versatility program are outlined in this chart (link to Versatility chart).  For more detailed information on the requirements and the application, please see the Versatility Program page (link to Versatility page).  SVCA members in good standing may apply for the versatility award plaque and certificate.  This award is available to non-SVCA members, however only the versatility certificate is awarded.
  • The 13 Club – This award recognizes dogs over the age of 13 that can still successfully compete in performance or companion sports. This award is available to SVCA members in good standing, please see the 13 Club page for information and the application.

Applicants accepted: The SVCA 13 Club Program is for SVCA members only. Certificates will be awarded accordingly.

Recognition: Qualifying dogs will be recognized at the SVCA Annual Meeting each year and results will also be posted in the next published SVCA Newsletter and on the SVCA website. Applications will be accepted up to 60 (sixty) days prior to the SVCA Annual Meeting in any given year.
